The fish harvests in Třeboň and its surroundings have a deep tradition dating back to the 15th century, when the pond system began to develop under the guidance of renowned stewards such as Štěpánek Netolický and Jakub Krčín. The Třeboň region became the center of Czech pond culture, and fish harvests were not only hard work but also major social events, accompanied by celebrations and markets. The largest pond in the Czech Republic – Rožmberk – is still harvested in the traditional way, using nets and manual labor. This annual event represents a true showcase of the fishermen’s craft, passed down from generation to generation.
Today, the fish harvests are not only an important part of the autumn work of Rybářství Třeboň, but also a popular tourist attraction. Every October, public harvests take place, drawing thousands of visitors. The highlight is traditionally the harvest of the Rožmberk pond, which in 2025 will take place from October 17 to 19. Visitors can watch fishermen in traditional costumes at work, taste fresh fish specialties, buy live fish, and experience the unique atmosphere of this fishing festival. The harvests in Třeboň thus bring together history, craftsmanship, and an unforgettable experience for the public.
